Distal Femoral Drill Guide

Product Description

Total Knee Arthroplasty (replacement) or TKA is a surgical procedure in which the knee joint is replaced by a prosthetic implant. During this procedure, the distal end of the femur must be prepared to accept the femoral component of the replacement joint construct. During a typical surgical procedure, a sagittal saw (see pictures) is utilized by the surgeon to shape the bone. Once the initial resection is completed the surgeon utilizes the Distal Femoral Drill Guide to create two alignment holes that will be used to locate a saw guide on the distal end of the femur. Proper alignment of the saw guide is crucial to ensure the femoral component is located accurately, thereby ensuring that the patient's natural joint kinematics will be restored.

The MedSpark team has developed several types of instruments for TKA surgical procedures including systems specifically designed for MIS (Minimally Invasive Surgery) techniques, which can provide superior surgical outcomes for patients. Specialized MIS instruments provide surgeons with sufficient functionality to accurately restore the patient's physiology, yet still fit into the tight tissue constraints inherent in MIS procedures.
