Stereoscopic 3D Photography Services

Service Description

There has been a renaissance lately in the world of stereoscopic 3D cinema with Hollywood blockbuster releases such as AvatarAlice in Wonderland and so on. While the concept is nothing new, recent technological advances, especially in the viewing of stereoscopic images have resulted in a renewed interest in the arena of 3D films. This resurgence is not limited to the cinema - our stereoscopic 3D photography services are available to all.

What is stereoscopic photography?

Stereoscopic photography is a technique whereby the viewer is presented with two slightly different images of a scene, one for each eye. The binocular disparity (from the difference in location) of the images is interpreted by the viewer’s brain to give a perception of depth (the 3rd dimension), and thus the illusion of a 3D scene.

This additional perception of depth brings a much more overwhelming sense of realism to a scene than that offered by conventional photography, and provides the viewer with a strong sensation of "being there".

Why choose Asha Carlos Photography for your 3D photoshoot?

While stereoscopic photography shares many similarities with conventional photography with regard to what makes a great photo - such as composition, framing, lighting and exposure, timing, etc. there are additional considerations and constraints with stereoscopic photography.

Here at Asha Carlos Photography we have invested considerable time and effort enhancing our techniques for creating awesome stereoscopic photographs, including scene analysis, view optimisation, and so on. This, combined with lightweight compact camera equipment on custom mounts, means we are quick to react and capture all those important moments.

As always, we pride ourselves on our reliable, friendly and professional service, and offer full consultation prior to the event to ensure we are fully aware of your preferences and requirements.

What events are applicable to this type of photography?

Any event which can be shot using conventional photography can also be shot using stereoscopic photography techniques. Note however, that the perception of depth is less prominent for faraway objects than it is for nearby objects. So for example, a distant landscape scene would likely produce no discernible 3D effect.

Fortunately the vast majority of events are entirely suitable for this type of photography technique, and when combined with our knowledge and expertise in this area, exceptional results are the norm. If you are unsure whether or not your event would be applicable to this type of photography technique, please contact us for a consultation.

How do I view the stereoscopic photos?

There are a number of different ways of viewing the stereoscopic photographs. For viewing on conventional televisions or monitors the most common method is to view the photos as anaglyphs. These involve the use of colour filter glasses (typically red/blue or blue/amber). This is a cost-effective and low-tech option which can be applied to existing technology. However, it is the new and emerging technologies that really provide an enriched viewing experience.

This is the year for a 3D revolution, with all of the major consumer electronics manufacturers gearing up production of full colour high definition 3D compatible displays, including televisions, monitors and projectors. Even if you don’t own this technology at the moment, chances are that you will do in the not too distant future.

If you have an important event that you would like to encapsulate in stereographic 3D, now is the perfect time to seize the opportunity.

In what format will I receive the digital copies?

We supply the digital copies on CD or DVD as requested. We provide a range of options for the image encoding, including standard stereoscopic formats such as multi picture object (mpo), jpeg stereo (jps), as stereo image pairs in any common image format (jpg, png, etc.) or as anaglyph images. We will also accommodate any new and emerging stereoscopic image formats as and when they become standardised.

Pricing and package options

Please feel free to contact us to discuss further about your event so that we can offer you the best package custom made to your requirements. Our prices are competitive, and are determined by a number of factors such as location, scale and duration of event, and so on.

For pricing details or further information, please complete the enquiry form or give us a call.
